Our Mission Statement

First Baptist Church, Woodstock, seeks to …

  • praise and worship God
  • nurture life-long growth in Christian living
  • support and encourage one another
  • love and care for all people and introduce them to God through Jesus Christ

Our Core Values

We value most highly, our personal and corporate relationship with God through his son, Christ Jesus.

Because we value our corporate relationship with God, we look forward to every opportunity to join together in God-honouring and Christ-centred worship. In our worship we seek to be inclusive and to recognize, celebrate, and draw from our diversity.

Because we value our personal and private relationship with God, made possible by the work of Jesus at Calvary, we seek opportunities to worship God privately, in our daily quite time, private prayer, study and devotional life.

We value sound Christian doctrine, faithful interpretation of the scriptures, diligent study and reflection on matters of faith and practice. We acknowledge our Baptist heritage but we seek to interpret both scripture and tradition in order to discover how to live a gospel-based life in today’s constantly-changing society.

We value ministries of service, care, compassion and love that work hand-in-hand with missions, to share our faith and the gospel good news with those who do not yet have a relationship with God. We do this both directly and with other partners, locally, nationally and globally. We do this both personally and corporately.

We value every opportunity to be a community of faith, a branch of the gathered church of Jesus Christ. We enjoy each others’ company, care, concern, love, prayers, challenge and nurture as we meet in small groups and in congregational activities. We seek to support, nurture, disciple, mentor, and encourage one another and to build each other up in our faith.

We value our leaders and we recognize the on-going need to bless and encourage them and to make their task a joy and not a burden. We recognize the need to identify, encourage, mentor and develop new leaders for the future.
